Marble
Marble is a natural metamorphic rock which occurs in nature. It is principally composed of calcium. For a stone to qualify as marble it generally needs to be able to obtain a luster (polish). Marbles are quarried from all around the globe in countries such as Spain, Portugal, France, India, China, Brazil and Namibia with the most well known and recognized being from Italy & Greece. The Italian white marbles are mainly quarried in Tuscany in the province of Massa. From this area are extracted the Bianco (White) Carrara, Arabescato and Calacatta marbles.
Marble has been a source of building material since man first began to hue stone with crude implements millennia ago and it is still that same marble that is available today. Some of the most famous buildings are constructed of marble blocks such as the Leaning Tower of Pisa as well as the church and the baptistry next to it.
Peraway Marble (Aust) Pty Ltd has a varied selection of marble slabs to choose from and if we don’t have it we can procure it given a reasonable time frame.
